Connect - What's It All About?
What is Connect?
An interactive database system that enables:-
~ Activity Leaders to publicise events to the wider membership as details will appear online
~ Roster Managers to compile rosters in an easily understandable format
~ Volunteers to record their own areas of interest, browse the current and planned activities and get involved.
Why has the system been developed?
The resourcing of various projects and activities remains an ongoing challenge and Connect provides a robust and effective management tool.
What are the benefits of Connect?
Connect has been designed to consolidate volunteer records and volunteers' areas of interest in one place. It enables Activity Leaders and Roster Managers to establish and manage a roster for any event, large or small.
An Activity Leader can target a single email to either the roster participants and/or volunteers who have registered an interest in the activity in question, or the whole database if maybe a new activity needs to be got off the ground.
A Roster Manager can similarly email all members of the roster(s) for which he/she is responsible.
Volunteers can register or amend their own areas of interest at any time. They can view all rosters, even for events for which they have not indicated a preference, and can contact the Activity Leader/Roster Manager if they would like to get involved.
Displaying rosters online enables all Connect participating volunteers to keep up to date with the overall staffing position for any particular event...and to offer their services where appropriate!
Key to its success is the willingness of Activity Leaders and Roster Managers to accept the system, use it whenever they can and feed back any problems encountered.
Will members without an Internet connection be left in the dark?
No. They will still receive information as previously, via The Trow or by 'phone. However users of Connect will have access to a wider range of activities - and more up-to-date information about these - than non users.
oOo
